Whether you're buying a home, experiencing slow drains, or just want peace of mind, a detailed drain field inspection can reveal what’s going on underground.
Why Inspect Your Drain Field?
Your septic drain field (also called a leach field) is responsible for dispersing and filtering wastewater into the soil. Over time, it can become clogged, compacted, or saturated—leading to system failure, backups, or groundwater contamination.
Common reasons to schedule an inspection:
-
- You’re buying or selling a home
- You notice slow drains, foul odors, or standing water
- Your system hasn’t been inspected in over 3 years
- You suspect root intrusion or soil saturation
- Your tank was pumped, but problems persist

What Our Drain Field Inspection Includes
At Anytime Septic Solutions, we go beyond a quick glance. Our inspections follow Florida DOH guidelines and use proven diagnostic methods to give you an accurate picture of your system’s health.
Here’s what we assess:
-
- Soil saturation and absorption – We check whether your soil is still absorbing effluent properly.
- Effluent levels and flow – Elevated liquid levels may indicate a clogged or overloaded field.
- Signs of ponding or surfacing – Standing water near the drain field often points to failure.
- Distribution box and lines – We inspect for blockages, uneven flow, or damage.
- Root intrusion or system obstructions
- Surrounding land use – Driveways, trees, or landscaping can impact your drain field’s function.
We use probing tools, dye tests, and system records (when available) to assess conditions without destructive digging unless absolutely necessary.

Do You Have Questions About Septic Drain Field Inspections?
A drain field inspection checks the condition and function of the part of your septic system that filters and disperses wastewater into the soil. It helps detect signs of failure, saturation, or damage—especially important in Polk County’s sandy soil and high water tables.
You should schedule an inspection if:
- Drains are slow or gurgling
- You notice wet spots or foul smells in your yard
- You’re buying or selling a home
- It’s been over 3 years since your last system check
- Your tank is fine, but you’re still having issues
Yes. We use non-invasive tools like probes, dye tests, and surface evaluations to assess the field. In some cases, light digging or camera access may be needed, but we avoid disruption whenever possible.
Most inspections take 1 to 2 hours, depending on the complexity of your system and site conditions. We’ll provide a full report and explain any findings the same day.
No. Pumping removes waste from the tank but doesn’t assess the drain field. A true inspection looks at absorption, flow, and signs of system failure—especially in the soil and distribution lines.
Absolutely. Florida law doesn’t require it, but many Polk County buyers do it to avoid costly surprises. A full inspection can reveal hidden problems not visible during a basic walkthrough or tank pumping.
We’ll explain the issue clearly and go over your options. Sometimes it’s a simple fix like jetting the lines or redirecting surface water. If more extensive work is needed, we’ll give you a transparent quote and walk you through next steps.
We recommend a full system inspection every 3 years, or more often if you have a large household, aging system, or recent signs of trouble.

If you a septic drain field installed on your Polk County property we can help!

TESTIMONIALS

I can’t say enough about Anytime Septic Solutions Inc! I woke up to a huge mess in my bathroom and kitchen this morning that didn’t seem to end! I have only been in this home for less than 6 months so this was absolutely shocking to me. I’m a renter so I contacted my Landlord who said they couldn’t get anyone out until THE NEXT DAY 2 PM! That would be over 24 hours with little to no access to running water. I posted a Facebook cry for help and had 2 comments recommending this company so I contacted them immediately! Megan answered my call and assured me someone could be out there by 6 pm TODAY! I was relieved! I gave my landlord their contact and just like she said, the truck rolled into rescue. The two men worked TEDIOUSLY until they knew we wouldn’t have this problem again and didn’t leave until it was completely fixed. I have seriously never been happier to leave a review. I will recommend Anytime Septic literally any chance I get. THANK YOU!🩶

Gave them a call about my septic tank malfunctioning, they came out the next day, very professional, I work nights so I slept through the whole time they fixed my problem, when they were done they sent me pictures of all the work that had been done! I would fully recommend these guys ! super professional and fast emergency service! Thank you 💪

So I live in rural Lake Wales and after years of flushing (non) flushable wipes started having some sewage pooling in the yard right above the septic tank. Called Anytime Septic out of Lakeland and they pumped the tank and told me it was a drain field issue and as soon as the tank refilled it would back up again because it wasn't draining properly. My options were either replace drain field completely 11,000, Or" water jet clean" the lines which is around 4,000. The septic system is 30 years old but I chose to jet the lines and it worked..no more pooling. Larry and Anytime Septic know what they're doing, look no further. Honest people.
